Melissa Patterson
My name is Melissa Patterson, the owner of Patterson Family Child Care Center and Lead Teacher of the Frog Classroom. I am the wife of 14 years to Eric Patterson. We have three children, Jaylynn 15, Paris 13, and Eric Jr. 10. My child care career started in 1995, working for United Child Development Center (UCDC) as a teacher’s aide. I opened a Family child care business in 1997, and then expanded to the child care center June 4th, 2012. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development/Preschool through Walden University. I finished the Quality Connections Program on December 1, 2008 through ERC and Capital Area Smart Start. In April 2009 I was awarded The Business of Facilitating Adult Learners
through the Kauffman Foundation and First Step Fund (KF&FSF). Also I was a Job Coach and Graduate of Developing Your Family Child Care Business Class on April 9, 2009 through KF&FSF. I am now one of the facilitators for the course. I completed the Belief Early Childhood Leadership Institute in October 2010. I am happy to provide a program with a KQRIS five star rating, the highest star rating for the state of Kansas. Being a member of the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC), Capital Area Providers (CAP), Child Care Providers Together/AFSCME, and
Child Care Providers Coalition of Kansas (CCPC) helps me to maintain a quality child care program. My greatest accomplishments were being awarded CCPC Provider of the Year in 2011 for the state of Kansas and Kansas Minority-Owned Business of the year 2011.
